City of Monona Receives Ripple Effect Grant

Iowa Network Services (INS), located in West Des Moines, Iowa, announced the award of a $5,000 Ripple Effect grant to the city of Monona, Iowa. The grant will assist the city’s efforts in financial, geographic and infrastructure exploration, and planning for a business park development. The INS grant was applied for and matched with another $5,000 grant by Northeast Iowa Telephone Company, (NEIT), headquartered in Monona. NEIT is Monona's full-service telecommunication provider and, along with many of Iowa's independent telecommunications companies, has been an owner-shareholder of INS since its inception, and recently completed its investment in a fiber-optic-to-the-premise network throughout Monona.

“INS supports the city’s desire to master plan a business park in the community and we are pleased that we can partner with NEIT to help the city start its planning process,” states Ron Keller, INS President/CEO. According to NEIT’s Chief Operating Officer, David Byers, “NEIT is proud to work with IADG and the city leadership of Monona to begin this very important planning initiative in and with the community. We are also excited to work with the city’s selected consultant, McClure Engineering.”

Dan Canton, Monona City Administrator, responded, “We are thrilled that NEIT and Iowa Network Services have joined us as financial partners in the master planning project. After conducting consultant interviews, the grant dollars now enable us to hire McClure Engineering (Clive, IA office) to conduct the master planning. We believe that McClure truly understands our need for planning and has the expertise to help us focus on the most important elements of a strong future land development perspective.”
